Scotch Whisky is one of the U.K.’s top exports so if you are a connoisseur, devotee or enthusiast then your visit to Scotland must include a visit to a distillery. There are two distilleries within a short distance of Lochton House.
The Fettercairn distillery near Laurencekirk (which is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland) was established in 1824. Here you can discover the secrets of the distilling process and enjoy the ‘nutty dryness’ of the Fettercairn 1824 single malt. There is a free tour and a free dram afterwards!
The Royal Lochnagar distillery (which was established in 1845 is the local distillery to Balmoral Castle, summer home of the Royal Family. You can tour the distillery and see the skilled distillers at work and enjoy a wee dram of Royal Lochnagar at the end of the tour.
